                    Spring 2007 Newsletter

Thanks to all who gave of their time to make the February-March "Hearts and Home" focus a success. Several families took the challenge to make sure every area of their lives were Christ-centered. Three of the eleven families have 100% participation in daily quiet time, scripture memory and church attendance.

Members of the ladies Bible Study have been faithful to reach out and bring their family members and friends. It has been such a blessing to see them share with each other the hope that is only found in Jesus. Their faithful witness to each other and their determination to go forward is contagious.

Thank you to the volunteers that helped several of our families get ready to celebrate Resurrection Sunday by providing gifts of clothing, food and Bibles.

Thank you for the continual gift of your self: your time when your schedule is full, your love when it is not immediately appreciated, your patience when you keep facing the same obstacles, your understanding when circumstances are rather bizarre and your faithfulness when there are no quick solutions. God sees your sacrifice. You are making a difference by bringing good news where it is desperately needed.

School is coming to a close and many of our children will need tutors throughout the summer. If you are currently tutoring, can continue through summer vacation time or would like to make a great investment of your time this summer—-PLEASE CONTACT US!!!

Last Saturday, we took a group of children to a local park, one of the children asked if we were going to have the Bible lesson. Another answered, "this is the Bible lesson, can’t you see, nice people to bring us here, cookies, drink, a place to play and bright sunshine, what do you want?" Again, thank you to those of you who pray, give and allow us to be "the Bible lesson". There’s much to be done. Spring is a time of renewal and beginnings. This would be a wonderful time to ask God what He would have you do.

We need more "walking, talking "Bible lessons". The billboard says, "Jesus loves you", signs at a every other church share messages that say Jesus lives or loves or has the answer or something to that effect and yet……

*A grandmother cries over her granddaughter, "her grades are good, her conduct is terrible and I am too tired to deal with it, her mother has about made me crazy and I can’t do no more". Someone spending time with this little girl could improve her behavior at school. Someone who cares, a phone call asking about her school day, a card, some accountability....

*There’s a distraught mom in jeopardy of losing her job because, she has no one to sit with her little son, in the hospital while she works. She has to keep her job to keep a home for her other children. She can’t be in two places at one time. Someone….

*His eyes are clear (unusual in this neighborhood), he is going to school and is "doing okay". When asked about his future, he shrugs, hasn’t really thought about it, today is enough. One man….an hour or so a week….a consistent friend to help this young man dream and see beyond the potholes, broken glass and ghetto graffiti.

*Smart children with broken hearts and angry attitudes from hard held survival techniques need a place to belong, A family to call their own, a place to put down roots could make the bitterness go  away.

It’s difficult to believe the "signs" when life is rushing at you but, it’s impossible to believe the "signs" if people who say they believe are able to ignore your cries for help? Please ask the Lord how you can play a part. Listen for His answer and then DO IT! Do not miss an opportunity to be His "lesson" to someone in need.

God is love, the tomb is empty. Let’s be Jesus in action. It’s one thing to say, "it’s a shame all those people are thirsty"—it’s another to hand them a cup of water. Love is a verb and God’s love is a power-filled verb.

                                                                 With cup in hand,

                                                                  Debbie Dickson
